My babies are growing up!

After listening to the boys comments about wanting their own rooms we have decided (although they don't know it yet) to let them have their own rooms.

When we bought this new house we decided to use the 4th bedroom as a playroom...mostly because this momma wasn't ready for one child to be on a different level from the rest of the family - but also because the boys wanted to share a room. Win-win situation!!

Momma was hoping we could wait until our oldest was at least 10 years old before moving him to his own room, but lately both boys have been making comments that they would like their own space. We thought they could share a desk, that isn't working out. We thought they could share a dresser but that doesn't work out very well either. The room is too small to add a second dresser and desk. We thought maybe the playroom could be a place one of them could go to when he needed space, but Lady Bug's things are in the playroom too so then she goes in and bugs them.

Plus, little did we realize that the different personalities they have make it hard to share a room. Lefty is clean and organized. Spirit is more like his dad and his a slob -- I'm kidding about being like his dad (well, sort of kidding!) So Lefty will literally kick Spirit out and clean the room, even Spirit's stuff. Then if Spirit starts scattering things I can hear Lefty scolding him about it!

Mr. Man and I talked it over last night and decided that for Lefty's birthday (which isn't until April) we will get him new furniture and re-organize the playroom. We will move Spirit into the playroom and give the current boy's room a makeover for Lefty.

Momma is still a little worried about this change but I still have 4 months to prepare myself.
THE PICTURES WERE TAKEN BY LEFTY - THEY ARE GREAT AREN'T THEY???

wow... well, four months is good prep. I salute you for that... I get an idea and then it drives me crazy until I carry it out. Which isn't always good...

I can't wait to see pics once the move happens!

Wow! That's a big step. Hopefully they will like being apart once the separation happens. Although, I have a feeling they will spend way more time together then than they do now! Funny how that works!

We're still in the room-sharing stage, and I hope it stays that way forever. YOUR milestone is stressing ME out.

Having their own space is good. I shared with my sister till I was about 5 and she was 8 and then we quite happily parted ways.

I think they may get along better (not saying they don't now) but once they have their own places to just 'be' it may make them better friends.

How exciting that will be for them. To have their own space again!
I'm trying to talk the Hubby into letting me merge the Tween with the Toddler so we can have an office! LOL Yeah. Don't think that's gonna happen.

No! No! Tell them to stop! Put bricks on their heads! No more growing! Let us know how it turns out! I have known some kids that loved the move and others that wanted to stay together!

Okay, what I need to know is how do you say NO to those faces?! I almost bypassed the whole post because I couldn't get past those grins! Their own rooms? Bet you're thinking how fast that time has gone by! Cuties! And good luck! =)

What cute boys you have! They look like they could be brothers (or at least cousins) to my son. How weird is that?!? (See my blog..about two postings down, I think.)
