Instant Oatmeal Mix

I love the instant oatmeal packets, but they are so expensive. My oldest sister actually gave me this recipe about a year ago, but I only recently tried it. It works great, tastes great and is so easy. I make multiple kinds, then store it in individual Ziploc baggies (label with permanent marker the flavor of each baggie)

Basic Instant Oatmeal (for 8 servings)
INGREDIENTS:
3 c quick-cooking oats
Dash of salt

Put 1 c of oats in a blender and give it a few pulses, to break up the oats. In a sandwich bag, add 2 Tbls of the ground oats, plus 1/4 c of quick-cooking oats and a dash of salt. Add any additional flavorings (the dry ingredients only of course) -- See the flavorings listed below.

When ready to eat, dump bag in a bowl and add 3/4 c boiling water (for thicker oatmeal use less water)

Apple-Cinnamon Oatmeal
INGREDIENTS:
a few chopped, dehydrated apples
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 Tbls brown sugar (add more or less to your taste)

Peaches and Cream Oatmeal
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 of a peach (fresh or from a can works too), diced
2 Tbls instant vanilla pudding powdered mix (or can use 1 Tbls dry non-fat milk instead)

**This actually works well with any type of fruit

Maple and Brown Sugar Oatmeal
INGREDIENTS:
1 Tbls brown sugar (add more or less to your taste)
1 Tbls maple syrup
