I went Oregon this past weekend for my mom's surprise birthday party! She turns 70 today and all of the kids and grand kids were there (well, all but one of my brothers and his kids)! There are six kids in my family and 15 grand kids.
We arranged to have my aunt pick up mom and tell her they were just going to dinner. When they arrived at the restaurant we were all there! It was soooooooo fun!
My mom was so surprised -- she kept telling us that she couldn't believe it. One of my brothers and a nephew flew in from California, I came from Colorado, one sister and her family came from Seattle! Kinda like a mini reunion! It was so much fun!
My brother in Florida couldn't come because his wife has Lou Gehrig's disease. But, my brother spent a month recording stuff on DVD to send to my mom! That was cool too!
My mom typically doesn't read my blog, but I was afraid to blog about our plans before the party "just in case" she decided to read it all of the sudden!

Sounds like a wonderful surprise!
That's awesome! What a great surprise!
What a great surprise! How is your brother's wife coping? Does she need a DynaVox to speak, or has she retained her voice?
To anonymous: So far my SIL has her voice but swallowing is getting harder on her.
