Weekend in Review

Saturday morning I let the kids be lazy and watch TV until 11:00 because it allowed me to get a lot done. I cleaned and did laundry, changed sheets, dusted and vacuumed. Then we all cleaned the playroom and selected some toys to donate to needy families. Then we drove to the drop-off location to donate the toys, went to the grocery store, headed home to make sausage dip and marinated asparagus to take to a party. Then the kids and I headed to the party and Mr. Man came later after he was done with work.

Saturday night we are getting ready to eat dinner and Lefty's lip started swelling. He told me his teeth hurt and he didn't want to eat. He had a blister looking thing on his gum which was getting larger and filling with pus (he actually got it 3 weeks ago and the dentist couldn't figure out what it was so she treated him with antibiotics but it never went away and we had a follow-up visit next week with her). We called the dentist and when she called us back (about 5:00 pm), she said it sounded like an infection and she called in a prescription for an antibiotic and then wanted to see him first thing today.

Sunday I took Spirit and Lady Bug with me to church since I was scheduled to work in the nursery. Mr. Man stayed home with Lefty because his face was so swollen and his eye was swelling shut too. We called the dentist again and she gave us some things to do to keep him comfortable until she could see him today. I was hoping she would see him yesterday, but Mr. Man said it probably would have cost us an arm and leg for the dental emergency!

Sunday proved to be a pretty lazy day due to the fact that Lefty wasn't feeling great. So we laid around and played games, watched movies and snacked all day. Spirit and I made some cookies (which apparently I left out an ingredient or maybe my baking soda was expired because the cookies flattened out terribly...still taste good though!)

This morning Mr. Man took Lefty to the dentist. They took more pictures and decided his tooth needed to come out. They gassed him and pulled the tooth. He was so brave. I am so proud of him. Mr. Man took him to Wal-Mart to get a new Lego set for being so brave!

I am so glad to have that done and now he can get healed. Bad news is the dentist said based on the xrays she doesn't think his new tooth will come in for another year or so. Oh well. It probably won't matter too much since several kids his age are already losing teeth so he will fit in just fine.

My kind of lazy weekend (minus the kid dental emergency!)
Hope he feels better and you are right about the missing tooth! He will fit right in!

Abby has had a gap in her front tooth for MONTHS with no sight of the adult tooth coming in. I don't think anyone will notice the space.

oh my goodness! I've never heard of anything like this. Poor guy, bless his heart!

My friend Amy, back in Michigan, had a two year old who broke a front tooth. The Dentist extracted it. Now her daughter is 6 or 7, still with no replacement tooth. Poor thing!

I hate dentist issues. I took Ciara in for her check up last week, and she ended up having to go back and get her back teeth "sealed". Startings of cavities, but he said she'll be losing them soon so no need to do fillings. Good thing, cuz she was freaking out enough about the sealant, and there was NO drilling involved! Hope Lefty is feeling better!

Poor thing! My son would have been brave if new Legos were the prize as well!

Hopefully he is feeling better now!
